Hello EMAlum, welcome to the EMAgora!
Dear EMA Alumni colleagues!
My name is Carly Sikina and I am a graduate from the class of 2020. I am originally from Canada but I now reside in Berlin, Germany where I moved for work upon graduation.
My motivation to run as a candidate for the EMA Board of Directors stems from my sincere appreciation for the experiences and connections I gained during my time at EMA and I am eager to give back to the community that significantly shaped me, both professionally and personally. Because of EMA, I have a vast global network of people who share common interests that I can turn to for advice, support and connection. Every day, I am inspired by this incredible group of people who have dedicated their lives to the protection and promotion of human rights around the world.
Before beginning my studies at EMA, I had a background in communications and sociology, which presented a challenge when delving into international legal frameworks. However, with determination, hard work and a few spritzes along the way, I successfully made it through. Graduating from EMA remains one of my greatest accomplishments and is something that fills me with an immense sense of accomplishment.
With over five years of experience in communications within the non-profit sector, I bring a unique approach to help drive engagement and collaboration among our network. My background allows me to create inclusive content to effectively communicate with our network, inspire knowledge sharing and drive support for each other's projects and activism.
Looking ahead, I envision the EMA Alumni Association as a thriving, inclusive network that adapts to the evolving needs of its members. I am dedicated to expanding our digital presence, facilitating more interactive and meaningful events and expanding our outreach to ensure everyone feels empowered to advocate for a better world. I am eager to contribute to a network of like-minded and inspiring people who have devoted their lives to supporting others and making long-lasting systemic change. I truly believe that with a united movement, we can make a difference!
Thank you so much for considering my candidacy and please feel free to reach out via carlyannesikina@gmail.com or LinkedIn.
