- I’m genuinely eager to take a more active role in the EMA association, and joining the board aligns closely with both my professional goals and personal convictions. My motivation was especially reinforced through recent collaborations with board members—co-organizing the Afghanistan webinar and contributing to the letter to the EU Commission on Palestine. These experiences reminded me of the importance of acting on our principles as human rights defenders, particularly in our personal capacities, where we’re often freer than within the constraints of our professional roles.
- I bring extensive experience from both NGOs and international organizations, in headquarters and in the field. These roles have strengthened my advocacy skills and sharpened my political judgment—assets I believe would be valuable to the board and its work.
- I would like to see EMA take an even more proactive stance on human rights advocacy, particularly by engaging with polarized or underrepresented perspectives. We can’t afford to keep speaking only among ourselves. I believe EMA could play a key role in elevating issues such as freedom of the press in security contexts, peacebuilding during conflict, the protection of women’s and LGBTI reproductive rights and mental health in humanitarian and human rights work.
