Hello EMAlum, welcome to the EMAgora!
Hello everyone!
I am Merel, graduated in 2021, and I am happy to see that I am part of a year that wants to be so very active in the EMalumni association!
At the moment, I live in Amsterdam where I work in a refugee centre with 180 residents. It's fun, sad, exciting and complex and all paradoxical emotions at the same time - I love it. Right now, there are 4 men sitting beside me at my desk, cheering me on for applying for this position.
Also, I am waiting for my first field mission with MSF as a Humanitarian Affairs officer, after having gained experience in the field in Lebanon, Jordan and Bolivia. With these experiences, I believe to bring a lot of energy, positivity and cultural sensitivity to the board.
My motivation to join the board lies in my drive to get people together, as I am positive that together we have a greater impact. Especially in the world nowadays, we need to stand strong and tackle these wicked problems together. I will try to bring my experience in advocacy and international project management to good use on the board.
What I envision is to enhance the connectivity of all EMalumni by coming together for new, creative meetings. In a world where problems only seem to be able to be solved with creative solutions, I believe that that is exactly what we should be doing to strengthen our network and abilities that come forth of that! Furthermore, I would like to make sure everyone knows about the EMalumni association, because... well... think big. The future of the association is bright, that's one thing that's for sure.
